Steps to obtain CMDCP® certification
Directions for INDIVIDUALS: Setting Up an Account for Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional Certification and 7-hour online course. Open to all who serve the elderly.
  1. Go to www.iccdp.net
  2. Select CMDCP
  3. Select Association Discount ONLY if you belong to an association listed on the association list
  4. Select Initial
  5. Select "I'm a new applicant and I want to create a USERNAME and PASSWORD" if you are individual
  6. Create a login password
  7. Begin application
  8. Within application if you are member of an association listed-Select Association and upload your Association membership letter.
  9. Complete application
  10. Check out. The fee includes the application and the 7-hour online course.
  11. The rate $300.00.
  12. If you selected association, your rate will change from $300.00 USD to $100.00 USD.

Once your application is reviewed and if approved, the 7- hour online course link will be sent to you.

You have 30 days to complete the 7- hour online course or the auto system will delete your account.

After completing the 7- hour online course, the class certificate is emailed to you which is NOT the certification. An evaluation link is emailed to you.

After completing the online evaluation, the CMDCP certification is emailed to you.

Renewal is every two years. The association rate for renewal is $160.00 USD pp and includes the 4 -hour renewal course work. If you are not a member of an association listed, the rate is $300.00 USD.

The class certificate will hold the CEUS. 7 CEUs for Administrators, Activity Professionals, Social Workers. Nurses pay an additional fee to the CEU Network of $28.00 USD.

Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional Option:

Qualifications:
1. Choose the option that best fits you (Individual, group, association and/or grandfather option)

2. Four year college degree or two year degree or certified or license in a health care profession. If not certified or licensed in chosen profession, you have completed a state required course to hold your position,

3. No college. Certified or Licensed in a health care profession or completed a state required course required to hold your position. I.E, a nursing assistant course. I.E, The MEPAP course for activity professionals. Or if you are not licensed or certified and are not required to have a license or certification to hold your position, please state that in the comments section. 
If you work for a senior referral company, at minimum you must possess a CSA certification. 

4. Minimum one year full time paid experience with a health care related company, association or government agency that provides services to the elderly. ie, Nursing Home, Assisted Living, CCRC, Home Care Agency, Hospice Agency, Hospital, Rehab Center, Memory Care Center, Management Company, Training Organization, Psychiatric Facility, Adult Day Services, First Responders, Clergy, Government Agency, Association, Elder Care services such as Elder Care Attorneys, Medical Practices, Consultants, Management Companies, Group Homes, Mobile companies such as Dentist, and others ancillary companies supporting health care industry. 

5. Complete the online Montessori dementia care professional course. Or qualify under the grandfather option.

 

Pathway to Certification:
Complete the online application form.

You may save your application and return to the application at any time to complete it.

Submit payment- see rates above.

Your application will be reviewed by ICCDP. Upon approval you will be sent a link sign up for the ICCDP Montessori Dementia Care Professional curriculum created by ICCDP. From the date of your application approval, you have 30 days to complete the online self-paced course. If you do not complete the course within 30 days, your application and course registrations are deleted and you will need to start the process and pay the fees again.  

Upon completing the course, passing the exam, and completing an ICCDP online evaluation, ICCDP will receive notification and your CMDCP certification will be emailed to you within 48 business hours.

 

CMDCP RENEWAL
In two years, you will need to renew your CMDCP Certification. The renewal fee can be seen in the fee sheet above and includes both the application and course fee. Upon completing the online CMDCP renewal application, you will be sent a link to International Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners where you will complete the 4-hour renewal course created by ICCDP. Upon completing the 4-hour renewal course and completing an ICCDP online evaluation, ICCDP will receive notification and a CMDCP certification will be emailed to you within 48 business hours.

Grandfather Option:

Qualifications:
1. Complete the grandfather application. 
Fee is $150.00 USD. 

2. Four year college degree or two year degree or certified or licensed in a health care profession. 
If not certified or licensed in chosen profession, You have completed a state required course to hold your position, or if you hold a position that does not require a license or certification nor college degree nor completion of a state required course, indicate that information in the comment section. 

3. Certified or Licensed in a health care profession or completed a state required course required to hold your position. I.E, a nursing assistant course. I.E, The MEPAP course for activity professionals,

If you hold a position that does not require a license or certification nor college degree nor completion of a state required course, indicate that information in the comment section. 

Note: Senior referral employees must have at minimum a CSA certification. 

4. Minimum one year full time paid experience with a health care related company, association or government agency that provides services to the elderly.

5. Completed a 7+ hour Montessori dementia specific course and or Montessori dementia specific certification from a national or international organization, university conducting Montessori Dementia training or a certified Montessori trainer, live or online course within the last 2 years.

 

Pathway to CMDCP Certification Grandfather Option:

• Complete the online grandfather CMDCP application.
• You may save your grandfather application and return to the renewal application at any time to complete it.
• Submit payment in the amount of $150.00 USD to ICCDP.
• Upload your Montessori certificate of attendance and OR Montessori certification you received. 

The course certificate must include course hours, dates of training, organization name, address, instructor name and signature and applicants name. If the applicant also has a Montessori certification, upload with class certificate. 

ICCDP reserves the right to ask for additional information regarding course work.

• Upon approval, a CMDCP certification will be emailed to you.


If not approved, a denial letter will be emailed to you and your application fee refunded.

 

CMDCP RENEWAL APPLICATIONS:
You will need to renew online your CMDCP certification in two years. You will be sent a renewal reminder notice via email. If your email changes, please log into your account to update personal information. We recommend that you have both a business and personal e-mail address

The renewal fees:
$160.00 USD  Application and 4-hour renewal coursework fee
$80.00 Grandfather Renewal Application Fee
$160.00 Association or Group Member Renewal Application and 4-hour Renewal Course Fee $50.00 USD late fees

Corporate Group (minimum of 10 employees) rate for those corporations investing in their staffs certification and education. The application and course fee is $160.00 USD pp. There is a $50.00 USD late fee pp if applicable. If you have already set up a group account, simply check the employees names and verify email address is correct and pay the fees. The employee will be sent an e-mail to log in and complete the renewal application and complete required 4 hour course work.  A new CMDCP certification will be sent to the employee and corporate group administrator.

If you have not set up a corporate account go to CMDCP, new applicant and select corporate group account. You will fill out a short contact form, enter each employees (minimum of 10) name and email address. Pay the fee. Each employee will be notified to complete the online renewal application and complete course work. Upon completing the course work, the employee and corporate group administrator will receive a copy of the CMDCP certification.

Individual applicants: 
Upon completing the online CMDCP renewal application, you will be sent a link to International Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners where you will complete the 4 hour renewal course. The renewal coursework is included in the renewal application fee of $160.00 USD. The renewal course is 4 hours and created by ICCDP. Upon completing the 4-hour renewal course and completing an ICCDP online evaluation, your CMDCP Certification will be emailed to you within 48 business hours

Directions To Setting Up an Account for Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional Certification and 7-hour online course. Open to all who serve the elderly.

Corporate Group Accounts ONLY:

If you already have a login password, scroll down to corporate group

  1. Select Corporate group
  2. Input your contact information
  3. Input your members names and email addresses. They can not share a work email address. If you have many names, please upload an excel spread sheet to save you time.Select “Grandfather” ONLY if your group has taken the Montessori course from a CMDCPT Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional Trainer or from a international or national learning institution or Montessori Organization.
  4. Save
  5. Proceed to payment.

The fee will change from $300.00 USD to $100.00 USD pp-Includes application and course.

NOTE: There are no refunds. You can delete a name, and you can add a name. But you cannot substitute a name.

Immediately all members receive an email to complete application within 7 days or their account will be deleted by the auto system. They will receive a link, unique login password.

Directions for applying for CMDCP Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional certification and 7-hour online course, if you part of a corporate group and you have received via email a log in and password.

Corporate Group Member ONLY- Directions to complete application: You must complete your application within 7 days of notification or your account will be deleted by the system.

  3. Select Initial
  4. Select Group member- I am a new applicant and I have a user name and password issued from my corporation group application.
  5. Enter the login and password sent to you.
  6. Begin application, within the application, if you were given a class certificate and previously completed the live Montessori Course, select Grandfather option and upload your class certificate.
  7. Complete application
  8. There should not be a fee as your company has paid for your application and the 7 -hour online course.

Once your application is reviewed and if approved, the 7- hour online course link will be sent to you. If you selected Grandfather, your certification will be emailed to you and you will not take the online course.

WHAT TO DO IF YOUR CMDCP® APPLICATION IS DENIED

How to Appeal

If you are deemed ineligible to obtain certification as a CMDCP and you wish to appeal, please send an email to:

You must email a typed letter that includes: Your name, address, phone number and email address, reason for ICCDP denial and why you are appealing the decision.  The ICCDP Executive Appeal will reach a decision after reviewing you’re application.  All decisions reached by the Executive Appeal are final.  Please allow 6 weeks to process. Your money will be refunded if you are denied your certification. If you have signed up for a phone conference, once payment is received there is no refund.

CMDCP® Association Discounts

If you are a member of an association that is eligible for a discounted rate, you will need to include your association membership number and certification/proof of membership.

If your account is deleted because you did not complete the course with in 30 days of the approval letter, there is no refund. If your application  is denied,  you are issued a full refund within 7 days of the denial letter.

The CDP®, CMDCP®, and CMDCPT are global certifications recommended for those working in the health care industry and with the geriatric population.
